Mothering: An Exhibition Reception

Moms Mental Health Initiative is hosting a gallery night in partnership with the Milwaukee Art Therapy Collective on International Women’s Day!

The reception kicks off Mothering: An Exhibition, to be held from March 8 - May 8, 2024, which will provide a visual voice to perinatal mood and anxiety challenges, serving as a means of awareness and advocacy.

This kid-friendly artist reception will feature live music, light refreshments, and artworks available with proceeds to benefit Moms Mental Health Initiative.

Forward Art Prize Reception

Arts + Literature Laboratory presents work by applicants for the 2023 Women Artists Forward Fund from September 22, 2023 through November 11, 2023. 

The mission of the Women Artists Forward Fund is to address gender disparity issues that exist for women artists, by providing them with financial resources to strengthen their work, along with recognition and community support to leverage their creative capital.

The Forward Art Prize offers two annual, unrestricted $10,000 awards for women visual artists living in Dane County, WI who show exceptional creativity in their work and compelling prospects for the future. Selections are made through an open, juried, competitive application process each summer.

The recipients of the 2023 Forward Art Prize will be announced during a reception held on Thursday, October 26, 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Dragons of DeForest Public Art Auction

The Village of DeForest believes that art has a special role within our community. Art can provide visual appeal to public spaces, stimulate creativity, and reinforce our community's commitment to "Growing the Good Life". As a tool, Public Art is used to educate, inspire, challenge, and preserve the character of our community, the Village of DeForest is excited to announce our first Public Art Campaign: Dragons of DeForest.

To kick off our first Public Art Campaign we had 10 artists create 11 five-foot tall fiberglass dragons that celebrate our heritage, community and much more! Proceeds will support local projects that benefit the community of DeForest.

Bidding on these pieces will begin at $800.00 and the auction will remain open through September 21, 2023 at 7:00pm. At the end of the auction, pieces will be awarded to the highest bidder and upon completion of payment.

Parallel Show

Opening gallery night for an exhibit carefully composed of 21 creative mothers and work inspired by motherhood -- obviously or abstractly. This show represents a wide range of stages in motherhood, materials and experiences.

Please join us on the 3rd Floor of the Arts Mill for some amazing art and discussions with our artist-mothers. Snacks and a cash bar will be available. After the opening night, the show will be up thru December 9th.

We will also be holding a silent auction that will include made or repurposed floral vases with fresh flower arrangements. The auction will only be the evening of 10/15 and all proceeds will go to the Milwaukee Diaper Mission, a local charity that assists mothers and their children.

6x6x2021 - The International Small Art Phenomenon

Every $20 artwork purchase supports our future exhibitions & public art. Each summer Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s (RoCo) 6x6 exhibition brings together thousands of original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international & local artists, designers, youth and YOU. Each artist may enter up to four artworks of any medium (2D or 3D). Artworks must be six inches square and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. Participation is free. All artworks will be exhibited and for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artists’ names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through the end of the exhibition. Limit four artworks per school or school group (no limit for colleges).
