Inversion
Two weeks before my due date, I was nonchalantly told my son was right-side-up, or breech, and that I would need an external cephalic version (ECV) to flip him if he didnโt do it on his own. What followed was a list of all the things that could happen during an ECV that could result in an emergency C-section.
I panicked.
I researched. I found yoga inversions and old wives tales to try at home. I spent the next few days upside down and trying to mentally brace myself for surgery.
Whether he flipped on his own, or because of the yoga, I will never know, but it was the most relieved I had been in nine months.
Breech.

Creative Process
Conceptualized in charcoal, Inversion 2 started out in in high contrast, smooth lines. However, after revisiting the fear I was experiencing while trying to invert my baby, it was clear that edges needed roughening up and by the time I was finished, there was a bruised quality that I needed to explore further.
